Turtuga Blanku interviews Mike Farrell
I am promoting the use of renewable energy through this
website
and my music.
But there are a lot of other people out there also doing something in their own special way to contribute
to solving environmental problems. I ask each interviewee only five questions.
From Ecocity Builder
Richard Register,
we go over to ‘Captain B.J. Hunnicutt’ M*A*S*H actor
Mike Farrell.
Apart from acting, being a host on several wildlife documentaries and producing movies,
Mike Farrell is also involved with
Human Rights Watch,
Death Penalty Focus,
Win Without War, animal rights, environmental issues, etc…
1) Save the earth…why?
It's a question of survival.
2) What, in your opinion would be the most realistic way
to solve the climate problems we are facing?
First, we have to get people to recognize the existence of the problem. Second, we have to
encourage and organize efforts to press past the forces that will obstruct progress because
they fear it will negatively impact their business or their financial status. Third, we have
to engage in cooperative efforts, internationally, to decrease the damage we're doing to the
planet and its atmosphere and increase the use of methods and technologies that heal the earth
and allow us to live in harmony with nature.
3) Do you think that anyone can be -or has the personality to be- "green"?
I think everyone has the capacity to do so. It requires the will.
4) How do you think music can contribute to protecting the environment?
By teaching. The music itself can help by being inspirational. Musical outreach can not only
entertain, but can also educate. Performers of music can, as many (bono, springsteen, jackson
browne and many others) use their platform to inform and inspire.
5) And finally: who would you recommend to also ask the questions you just answered?
Ed Begley.
Appreciated, Mike!
Next up is Filmmaker and sound designer
Velcrow Ripper.
